YES! WHAT SHE SAID!
That’s what I say to myself with each page I read in Joyce Meyer’s devotional, The Confident Woman.
With each day’s meditation, I grow in agreement with her truth about ourselves as Daughters of the King, and the page for January 4 is one of my favorites and inspiration for my own Becoming Women of Worth book series.
Joyce’s style is straightforward and encouraging, and while she holds no punches, sometimes delivering a bitter sting, her theology is on target. Her keen insight and application of the scriptures provide the daily dose of positive affirmation I need. And I mean “need”. Let me explain…
During much of my life, when I looked in the mirror I saw inadequacy. I thought I wasn’t good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, funny enough… fill in the blank; I wasn’t enough of it! I compared myself to other people and always believed I didn’t measure up. I often had difficulty finding my own self-worth, and I let other people define my value. I suffered from low self-esteem and my greatest fear was that I would never amount to anything worthwhile, that I held no significant value. Sound familiar?
Fast forward many years and I’ve come a long way. But mine is a journey of progress and not perfection, and reading The Confident Woman Devotional helps me move forward in my progress. Every page reminds me of all the ways God did for me what I couldn’t do for myself. He has raised me from the muck and the mire because He loves me, because I am too valuable to be wasted. This is a truth I am sometimes slow to embrace, making my worth an ongoing exercise in mindset.
The Confident Woman Devotional includes 365 devotional messages, including scripture verses and accompanying prayer to address challenges women face daily. From confidence and self-image to having healthier relationships, this devotional helps women confront and resolve problems in the areas of divorce, integrity, burn-out… you name it, Joyce has an encouraging word for it!
This is a must have for every woman’s nightstand, along with her well-read Bible. Bravo, Joyce!
